Alaska, "the great land", we started going to Alaska for vacation in 2001 and plan to go back every year if we can. It is unbelievable, the size and beauty of the place is overwhelming. I was stationed in Alaska in 1981 - 1984, I always talked about going back but never did until 2001. 20 years had gone by but it felt exactly the same, this time with the family it was much more of an adventure. We rent a BIG motor home, the one this year had dual slide-outs and was like a small apartment complete with kitchen and bath. This year we went to Valdez and Whittier, we had not visited them on our previous trips. The map below shows our route:
This year the kids had a great time fishing and caught lots of fish, they both fished with fly rods and spinning gear but mostly fly fishing.
Buddy caught his first fish on a dry fly and was instantly "hooked" himself. He wanted to use dry flies from that moment on.....
