Alaska '09

My son and my father accompanied me on my trip to Alaska this year, it was an interesting time and a lot of fun. We did not catch as many fish this year but we spent a lot of time seeing the sites and looking around.

We stopped in Whittier and Hope for some Pink Salmon fishing, there were so many fish in the river that they blanketed the bottom in places. My son caught around 10 fish in an hour.

We then went on to the Russian River to fish for two days I caught Red Salmon and we walked up to the falls to see the fish jumping and swimming up the rapids.
From there we went to the Anchor River and Homer for a day had an interesting day, we met Captain Jonathan from the "Deadliest Catch"! We went fishing and clamming, it was a lot of fun and we got lots of clams.

We then went to Talkeetna and Montana Creek where my father caught his first salmon on a fly rod. He got pretty good at it and after a while had caught around twelve fish. David did well and we had a lot of fun catching and landing fish.

Lastly we went to the Little Susitna River and fished for Chum and Silver Salmon. Caught a nice fish and capped off a great trip.

This is the town of Hope Alaska and pictures of the buildings there, it is an interesting town and once was a mining town, then it became an agricultural community and provided produce to Anchorage until shipping goods from the "lower 48" became cost effective, now it is a small tourist community. In fact these are just about all of the buildings in Hope!
